Minutes

I.                    Bowling

a.       Tri-Beta is good for Thursday.

b.      Jade will be finding a Thursday that works for a local lane.

c.       We are trying to schedule the dual for 4:30.

II.                  Tri-Beta

a.       We have tentatively been invited to “Research Wars”.

b.      There will be food and socializing.

c.       There will be some type of research-related contest.

d.      No date as of now.

III.                The Speakers

a.       We do not have any potential speakers for the fall.

b.      Previous suggestions have not panned out.

IV.                Hugs update

a.       Lupe has still not signed the contract.

b.      Other options are being explored.

c.       Peoria Chiefs might offer an appropriate venue.

V.                  Relay for Life

a.       From 6 PM to 6 AM

b.      April 16^th

c.       Brett is our relay boy.

d.      We will be entering either an all student team or a student faculty team.

VI.                Pottery

a.       Fired-up!

b.      April 10^th

c.       Get Ready!

VII.              Reading to kids

a.       Will begin soon.

b.      Jade is on it.

VIII.            Elections for next year’s Exec Board

a.       At meeting, discuss how amazing it is to be on the board.

b.      Election will be completed prior to Celebrate Psychology.

c.       Nominations will be done on paper and turned into the Exec board.

d.      The exact date of voting has not been determined.

IX.                Psi Chi Meeting

a.       We will be discussing positions and upcoming elections.

b.      We will be voting on new members.

c.       The meeting is this Wednesday March 10^th, 2010.

I.                    Bowling

a.       Bowling will be cancelled and moved.

b.      The bowling alley scheduled us on a league night. There will not be any open for us.

c.       We will be re-scheduling the bowling excursion.

II.                  Relay for Life

a.       We will be making a combined team with the faculty.

b.      We’re in!

c.       It will be April 16^th, 2010.

III.                Hugs

a.       Research will be conducted on possible alternative events.

b.      Marketing is on hold due to the uncertainty of venue.

c.       Hayley will contact her source to produce a graphic for the event.

I.                    Movie Night

a.       Success: We filled the room. We are achieving increased awareness.

b.      Failures: Discussion was limited.

II.                  Member of the Month

a.       Michelle Hartman

III.                Hugs Not Harm

a.       Success: We are achieving increased awareness.

b.      Failure: Well, Brett hit people with the hugs and kisses.

IV.                Lab Jam

a.       Brett, Ashley, Carson and others to present.

b.      Friday 2 PM.

V.                  Interview Workshop

a.       BR 50

b.      Friday, 4 PM.

c.       Dr. Huffcutt will be leading the workshop.

VI.                America Reads

a.       Several ways we could do this: one member per classroom or use the buddy system

b.      We will be contacting younger members to possibly join our efforts.

VII.              Next Monday

a.       Nina will be out of town.

b.      We will still be having a meeting.

c.       Nina will be forwarding possible topics of discussion.

VIII.            Psi Chi Meeting

a.       Moving Movie Night to the 31^st of March

b.      Psi Chi Meeting will be in BR 50 on March 10, 8 PM.

c.       We will be soliciting nomination for Exec Board Positions

d.      We will be voting in new members.

I.                   Movie Night- 2/10/10

a.       Movie- Marybeth will purchase for Wednesday.

b.      KP bought some snacks, Jade is picking up pizza.

c.       People from HEAT will be presenting.

d.      Set Up: BR 46, we need a laptop, 7:15

II.                Jade’s PowerPoint

a.       Wrote  a formal proposal for our event to be held at the concert

b.      Waiting on reply from performer

c.       Civic Center has agreed

III.             Job Fair: Times are attached to e-mail in word document.

b.      Job Fair is Thursday 11, 2010.

IV.             Hugs not Harm

a.       Giving out Hersey Hugs on Friday

b.      Help raise awareness of self-harm with Bradley Psi Chi

c.       Tables are reserved from 9:40 AM to 2:00 PM

d.      Marybeth and Carson will get the tables- Sisson 141

e.       Jade is looking into us getting the table moved inside

V.                Dr. Huffcutt

a.       We have asked Dr. Huffcutt to give a talk on interview strategies.

b.      Trying to schedule the talk for Friday February 19^th.

VI.             Psi Chi Meeting

a.       We will be meeting to discuss new inductees.

b.      Meeting will be moved to accommodate a possible Meeting of The Minds event.

VII.          Pottery

a.       Going to Fired Up

b.      Exec Members

c.       A nice retreat to end the year

February 1, 2010

I.                    Website

a.       Ashley did a bang-up job making it. Marybeth did a great time submitting the award.

b.      New Feature: we can post minutes via e-mail (use your Bradley e-mail account).

c.       Jade is going to get Ashley the info about getting the site hosted by Bradley.

II.                  Movie Night

a.       This is not going to happen.

b.      We want to move it to February 10^th.

c.       We don’t have everything planned. So, we are punting.

d.      We are trying to tie this to the Awareness Event.

e.      The Movie will be Thirteen, and we will have a speaker that is TBD.

III.                Meeting of the Minds

a.       Talk to other members about what they would like to see.

b.      Could Huffcutt talk about grad school interviews? Jade and Doug will find out.

c.       17^th or 24^th 5 PM

IV.                Bowling

a.       Going on the 3^rd regardless.

b.      We might go to a private venue rather than Landmark.

c.       March 3^rd, Wednesday at 8 PM.

d.      Site TBD.

V.                  Hug-a-Carson

a.       April 20^th at the concert.

b.      Committee: Jade, Ashley, Carson

c.       “Me and JoJo are like this.” -Jade

d.      We need the presentation by next week.

e.      We will be handing out hugs on the 12^th of February (KP will get hugs tonight).
